Ashanti: Is She Still the “Princess of Hip Hop and R&B”!?!?

After a 4 year hiatus from the music game, Ashanti has returned with her newest single, “The Way That I Love You”. In this video, Ashanti plays a crazed out chick who “seemingly” goes postal when she finds some interesting information left on the night stand by her boyfriend. 

I have to say that I really like this LT Hutton produced hit but I don’t like Ashanti on the track. I could probably see Mary J. Blige or Keyshia Cole’s voice on this track more than Ashanti. I think they do a better job at “you did me wrong” songs. In my opinion, Ashanti’s voice isn’t strong enough to carry this type of song. The ”brand” of Ashanti carries this song more than her actual vocals however, I’m sure Ashanti fans will feel differently and still love it the same. 

As in the video, what ever happened to just breaking up!! Why we gotta start playing with knives and contemplating murder like a Bobby and Whitney spin off. If you are thinking about murder or doing anything that will get you jail time instead of just breaking up, you may have deeper issues than just a cheating boyfriend!!! Just a thought!
